    A MESSAGE FROM THE ARTIST
    Hodge Podge Bricolage

Hi everyone! My name is Sumana Mahata, and I am a medical student. I love the intersection of art and science and started creating patterns that portray science right before I started medical school. I am most known for designing one of Dr. Fauci's masks, but I think I have more of an impact on people who are otherwise less exposed to the sciences. My patterns start conversations about science and hopefully bring more people into the field.

This design depicts mitochondria, affectionately known as the "powerhouse of the cell." To me, they are a symbol of energy, quite literally, as they are responsible for making our ATP, and I think that it's appropriate for a scrub cap because having one on almost certainly means that it's time to hustle. I hope that wearing mitochondria helps you feel more energetic and reminds your colleagues which organelle is superior!
